About Ziv Ringer

In the early 2000’s I was exposed to creations and sculpturing iron in workshops taken in the Uri Hofi blacksmith school in Ein Shemer, Israel.

In 2004 I joined the workshop of Rami Rudich in Givataim, Israel. In that supporting environment I got acquainted with the tools and techniques of metal processing and I was inspired by fellow artists. Since 2021 I have my own workshop, where create independently and host other artists.

I enjoy coping with the raw material, forcing patterns and structure on it, examining its limits and bestowing characters and meanings into it. Impressions, experience and feeling exchanges with those that surround me, ignite raw ideas that gradually evolve into art creations. AI tools help me to visualize ideas and enrich them. In my works I integrate surreal, humoristic and even macabre elements which can generate range of feeling such as empathy, wonder, laughter and even sorrow and rejection.

In my work I rely on classic blacksmithing combined with modern iron processing. I incorporate techniques of flattening, heating, color fixation, brass add-ons, grinding and smoothing in order to achieve unique texture for the iron. Finally, I grant the iron with gentle and delicate finishing, whitened or blackened, which stands in contrast to the raw steel.

My works are displayed at my home in Tel Aviv and in private collections.
